Biography:
Dr. Charles Jones is a 4th generation General Surgeon in Ashe County. He received his B.S. in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill in 1986. He earned his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in 1992, graduating with various honors, including the Upjohn Achievement Award. Dr. Jones completed the surgical residency program in 1997 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. During surgical residency Dr. Jones received various awards including the Teaching Award, Surgical Achievement Award, and Chief Resident to name a few.
Dr. Jones moved back to Ashe County with his wife and their 2 year-old-son in 1997, to practice general surgery alongside his father. He enjoyed 10 years of practicing surgery with his father, sharing the same office, until his father retired. Dr. Jones considers it a privilege and an honor to be serving the community where he grew up, and caring for his fellow Ashe Countians. He serves as Head of Department of Surgery, Head of Surgical Endoscopy, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees at AMH.
In addition to his passion for the health care field, Dr. Jones also enjoys serving the community in other areas. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Lifestore Bank; and BOD of Zuryc, a private I.T. company he co-founded. He is a lifelong member of Jefferson United Methodist Church, having served on several committees there, including various chairmanships.
Dr. Jones loves spending time with his wife of 30 years and their three sons. Family is a top priority for him. When not at work, he also enjoys reading, fly-fishing, driving all around beautiful Ashe County to sightsee, and hiking.
